ISM Documentation

A safety management system the crew will actually use.

SMS drafting and implementation, DOC and SMC support, and the records, drills and audit programme that keep the system alive between inspections.

Overview

ISM Documentation

Most ISM findings are documentation failures, not safety failures: a procedure nobody follows, a record nobody keeps, a drill logged but not run. A system written for your fleet size and trade avoids that.

We draft, implement and maintain safety management systems, and train the shore and shipboard staff who have to operate them.

Scope of work

What is included

01

SMS development

Safety management manual, operational procedures, checklists, forms and familiarisation material drafted around your vessel types and trading pattern.

02

DOC & SMC support

Preparation for initial, intermediate and renewal audits, document submission to flag or recognised organisation, and attendance during the audit.

03

Records & reporting

Drill and training matrices, maintenance and defect records, near-miss and non-conformity registers, and master’s review documentation.

04

Internal audit programme

Annual internal audit of vessel and office, findings graded by risk with corrective action, responsible person and target date, then verified at closure.

05

Revision control

Controlled document revisions, distribution to the fleet and evidence that the current version is the one in use onboard.
